how to beat burnout.png

…even when YOU are experiencing burnout!

Many employees are feeling burnt out right now. Are you one?

Between the current economic instability, lack of clarity from higher-ups as to how the economic issues might impact you, layoffs, furloughs, stress, mental health, work from home struggles, childcare and so many other things…

I’d be surprised if your team members weren’t feeling some level of burnout.

If you’re a woman in leadership – you’re likely feeling the burnout too.

You might know more about the behind the scenes stuff, but not everything. You’re walking a tightrope daily of trying to balance people’s emotions and metrics. You’re afraid that the middle management will be weeded out – are you standing out enough to survive the potential cut?

Your experience is valid – but as leaders, we have to step up and support our team’s burnout while managing our own. Here’s a few ideas to get you started!

How women leaders in the workplace can support burnt out teams

1) Invest in your own support. You cannot vent, complain or stress to your team – you have to be a source of strength and resilience for them. But you don’t have to bottle it all up either! Invest in a professional leadership coaching to help you deal with burnout and create a process to avoid it in the future.

2) Establish roles & goals: Clarify for yourself when you need to step into leader mode, and what to prioritize then. For example, for the role of team leader, my goal is to keep the team motivated and upbeat. For the role of employee, my goal is to model excellent behavior and get outside support. Mentally remind yourself which role you’re in if you hear someone complaining and want to scream “ME TOO!”

3) Create consistency. If you don’t have regular checkins with those you supervise, add them to the calendar. If you have them but frequently cancel, recommit. Develop a meeting agenda template and use it. Have your daily huddles follow a similar format. Consistency and predictability will help your team reserve energy stores when they’re already exhausted!

Leaders need support, especially now. You’re a people person – and you need to make sure you’re owning your own burnout too. Head to the book a call page and fill out the application to learn more about how I can help you make burnout for yourself and your team a thing of the past.
